The CAS Institute of Oceanology has joined hands with two research institutes under the Shandong Academy of Sciences in co-establishing a joint laboratory on oceanic environment monitoring. Its inaugural ceremony was held on Dec. 15 in Qingdao, a coastal city in Shandong Province.
The new lab will focus on the following research areas: marine data, marine acoustics and subsurface buoy systems; marine hydrometeorology, and instruments for oil platforms and large vessels; monitoring system for marine environment and ecology, and bio-rehabilitation technology; profile measurement of dynamic factors in marine environmental system; and physical oceanography and related non-linear technology; optical-fiber sensors and fiber hydrophone technology.
